Pioneer’s Alumina Refinery (Pioneer Aluminium Industries Limited) is strategically located on the east coast of India near the ports of Visakhapatnam (75km), Gangavaram (60km), and Kakinada (140km), which is in the proximity of Aluminium smelters in the Middle East and Southeast Asian markets. This location provides Pioneer’s Alumina Refinery with very significant logistic and locational advantages, including readily available infrastructure for smooth bulk import and export operations.

Pioneer Aluminium Industries Limited was established in India in 2007 as a joint venture led by the promoters of Penna Group under an MoU signed with the Government of Andhra Pradesh, for setting up an Alumina Refinery, Aluminium Smelter and Alumina/Aluminium-related products. Pioneer Aluminium is jointly owned by Penna Group (68%), Rescom Group through its investment arm KCap Holdings (26%) and others, since 2021.

Our first phase comprises an Alumina refinery of 1.5 Mtpa capacity, a 3×74.6 MW Co-Generation Plant and all allied infrastructure. The refinery has two identical trains and is being debottlenecked to a capacity of 2 Mtpa of sandy metallurgical-grade Alumina and has been strategically designed to facilitate easy expansion to double the capacity

With a view that the Alumina produced would mostly be exported, a sector-specific Special Economic Zone (SEZ) status has been granted to Pioneer Aluminium by the Ministry of Commerce, New Delhi (Government of India)
