University of Iowa revamps academics amid DEI shifts: Departments of American Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies to close Latest job recruitment

The University of Iowa plans to close its Gender, Women’s, and Sexuality Studies department and other programs, replacing them with a new interdisciplinary major in Social and Cultural Analysis. The restructuring aims to streamline curricula and enhance academic offerings, aligning with statewide DEI policy changes, and will take effect in July 2025 if approved.
