Position: Safety Officer
Location: Iron & Steel Industry
Salary Range: ₹35,000 to ₹50,000 per month
Experience Required: 4 to 6 years
Preferred Industry Experience: Iron & Steel
Job Description:
- Safety & Legal Compliance: Monitor compliance with safety and legal requirements.
- Accident Investigation: Investigate and report on industrial accidents.
- Policy Enforcement: Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety.
- Training & Education: Propose annual education and training plans on environment, safety, and hygiene. Conduct training and presentations on health and safety matters and accident prevention.
- Risk Management: Identify risks, conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA), and evaluate the effectiveness of contingency plans periodically.
- Workplace Improvement: Maintain 5S and Kaizen practices in the workplace, identify improvement scopes, and implement changes with the help of concerned personnel.
- EHS Audits: Conduct audits related to Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) and provide required documents to auditors.
- Health & Safety Plans: Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines.
- Site Inspections: Conduct regular and random site inspections to identify and mitigate Unsafe Acts and Unsafe Conditions (UAUC) & Near-Misses.
- Work Permit Management: Ensure all work permits are filled and signed daily by a competent person with the required documents.
- Safety Promotion: Propagate safety through posters and signboards. Ensure corrective and preventive actions for non-compliance.
- Equipment Monitoring: Proactively and periodically monitor lifting tools, tackles, EOT cranes, welding machines, gas cutting sets, ELCB, RCCB, emergency lights, sirens, portable hand and power tools.
- Record Keeping: Maintain databases of near-miss incidents and first aid cases.
- Fire Protection System Maintenance: Coordinate servicing, maintenance, and refilling of portable fire extinguishers. Conduct functional checks of the fire hydrant system.
